New York, NY (January 3, 2019) – Wicked Cushion, LLC announced today that it has partnered with World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series team Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) to form a new eSports racing team called KKR Sim Team with Wicked Cushion (KKR Sim). Wicked Cushion has been growing its eSports platform to include not only sponsorship of various dirt racing series on the iRacing.com platform, but also various teams predominately participating in the dirt sprint car and midget iRacing competitions.
Wicked Cushion believes that the growth in eSports is a marketing segment that should not be overlooked in any potential sponsors motorsports marketing portfolio. Global eSports revenues are up more than 38% year-on-year in 2018 and will reach nearly $1 Billion for the year with approximately 40% of the revenues coming from sponsorships. This “cross-aspect” form of motorsports marketing is an exciting way to engage with customers on a very personal level and is an inexpensive way for motorsports operations like KKR to provide additional exposure for its brand partners. iRacing is the world’s premier motorsports racing simulation and puts you in the driver’s seat by allowing members to experience today’s newest form of motorsport: virtual racing. iRacing.com provides some of the most professionally produced and heighly competitive racing in all of eSports. Many of these races can be watched live on broadcast platforms such as YouTube, Facebook Live, and Twitch.
The KKR Sim Team with Wicked Cushion is made up of four of the best dirt simulator drivers on the iracing platform. KKR Sim is pleased to welcome Chris Brenner of Toledo, Ohio, David Heileman of Milwaukee, Wis., Britton Roxberry of Clinton, Tenn. and Timothy Smith, also of Toledo, Ohio to the KKR/Wicked Cushion family. Three of four of these talented drivers qualified for the inagural Craftsman World of outlaws Championship Series on iRacing. Each of the drivers will race a replica car to help support KKR brand sponsors. Chris Brenner will race a simulated Wicked Energy Gum car, David Heileman will pilot a simulated NAPA AUTO PARTS car, Britton Roxberry will race a simulated Valvoline car and Timothy Smith will pilot a simulated Factory Kahne car in dirt track competition on the iRacing platform. More information about Chris, David, Brittion and Tim will be made available on the KKR Sim Team media platforms very soon.
“We are very excited about partnering with Kasey Kahne Racing to help bring competitive sim racing to a higher level. Each of these drivers are stand-up gentleman and we look forward to working with them and watching their successes.” said Matthew Henninger, founder of Wicked Cushion.
“We’re really excited to be partnered with Wicked Cushion on this Sim Team project,” said Kasey Kahne, owner of Kasey Kahne Racing. “Sim racing and eSports have become so popular in the last few years that it just made sense to put together a team on a platform to partner with drivers that haven’t gotten an opportunity in a real sprint car quite yet. We can’t wait to see where it goes.”
